Passion - Experience - Leadership
Building a better city for a better tomorrow
LEADERSHIP YOU CAN TRUST
Mayor Harold Slone grew up in the Blaine area before moving with his family to Louisa more than a decade ago. It was here that he developed a deep commitment to the future of our community and a desire to help shape its growth.
Harold and his wife, Marsha, have been married for 39 years and live in a beautifully restored historic home on Lock Avenue. Together they own Farmhouse Memories, a retail business specializing in floristry, home décor, and antiques. Founded by the Slone family in 1995, their small business reflects the values of hard work, customer service, and community investment.
Their son, Zeb, attends Eastern Kentucky University, where he is majoring in Homeland Security. He is passionate about public service and the fire service, proudly serving as a volunteer firefighter with the Louisa Fire Department. Through his dedication, he has earned certifications in Firefighting, Swift Water Rescue, and Public Safety Diving.
Before being elected Mayor of Louisa in 2015, Harold served one term as a Lawrence County Magistrate and spent seven years as Director of Lawrence County Emergency Management. Those experiences provided him with a strong foundation in public service, emergency preparedness, budgeting, and infrastructure planning.
As mayor, Harold has focused on improving the quality of life for every resident while planning for Louisa's future. During his administration, the city has completed significant improvements to parks, recreational facilities, streets, sidewalks, public buildings, and municipal equipment. Aging equipment has been replaced, city services have been strengthened, and millions of dollars in state and federal grants have been secured to reduce the burden on local taxpayers.
The next four years represent some of the most transformative in Louisa's history. Under Mayor Slone's leadership, construction will begin on a new state-of-the-art wastewater treatment plant, ensuring reliable service, protecting our environment, and supporting future economic growth for decades to come. His administration has also committed more than $200,000 in street resurfacing and sidewalk improvements to create safer neighborhoods and improve accessibility throughout the city.
Public safety remains another top priority. Plans are underway for a new Emergency Communications Response Center, which will serve as the home of the Louisa Police Department and Fire Department. This modern facility will provide first responders with the resources they need while improving emergency response and protecting the citizens of Louisa.
Mayor Slone continues to pursue additional grants and partnerships for downtown revitalization, park enhancements, tourism, water and sewer improvements, and other projects designed to strengthen Louisa's economy and improve the community for future generations.
"Serving as your mayor for the past 12 years has been one of the greatest honors of my life. Every day, I work to deliver results that make Louisa a better place to live, work, and raise a family. While we've accomplished a great deal together, there is still important work ahead. I respectfully ask for your continued support so we can complete the projects we've started, build on our successes, and keep Louisa moving forward."
